PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

PATENT/INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ATTORNEY 1993 – Present
Partner in the law firm from January 1998 to present. Experience includes preparing and prosecuting patent applications, preparing patent infringement and validity opinions, preparing patent appeal briefs, preparing licensing and confidentiality agreements, preparing and prosecuting trademark applications, participating in trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings, conducting trademark searches, preparing and prosecuting copyright applications, legal research, and advising clients relative to obtaining mask work protection.
Additional experience includes participation in all phases of trial and litigation. Admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

LAW CLERK 1992 – 1993
Law Clerk from May 1992 to November 1993. Experience included preparing and prosecuting patent applications, preparing patent infringement and validity opinions, preparing patent appeal briefs, preparing patent licensing agreements, legal research, and advising clients relative to obtaining mask work protection.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

ELECTRONICS INSTRUCTOR 1989 – 1990
Taught approximately 20 students from diverse backgrounds, the basics of digital and analog electronics. Students with no technical background were taught to repair computers by the end of the course.

TEAM DESIGN PROJECT 1988 – 1989
While in college, worked on a team of three that designed and implemented an electro-mechanical system to aid in research being conducted by the MSU biology Department. Included writing a technical instruction manual to accompany the machine.
Winner of an Award in IEEE Student Design Paper Contest, March 1989.
